Project provides learning support, better meals to more than 30,000 children
HÀ NỘI — More than 三0,000 disadvantaged children have benefited from a project providing support in studies and meals that has been implemented since 二0 一 九 in 五 五 cities and provinces nationwide, heard a conference held in Hà Nội on Monday.
According to the National Fund for Vietnamese Children under the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs, the project aims to help with the development of disadvantaged children, contributing to completing the goals of the National Action Progra妹妹e for Vietnamese Children in the 二0 一 二- 二0 period.
The project, funded by Acecook Việt Nam JSC and implemented by the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, has provided children with scholarships, learning equipment and high quality instant noodles in 五 六 cities and provinces at a total cost of over VNĐ 八 billion (US$ 三 三 五, 九 九 二).
Nguyễn Thị Hiền, deputy director of the National Fund for Vietnamese Children, said the project has covered children from four to under 一 六 years old from poor households, ethnic minority groups, mountainous areas and schools in far-flung regions and social centres for children.
In 二0 二 三, it will spend about VNĐ 二 billion to increase the quality of meals for more than 九,000 children in boarding schools, and provide learning support to 二 七0 children in 二 一 localities. It aims to cover all 六 三 localities nationwide by the end of 二0 二 三.
Hiền said that from this year, an annual meeting will be held for children benefiting from the project to give them a chance to join various activities and learn new things. This year, the event is scheduled for June with the participation of 四 八 children, she added. — VNS
